The Skil-Care (tm) EZ Slide Transfer System provides a secure positioning surface for side lying residents which is an important feature when it is necessary to off-load pressure from the coccyx area. As an added bonus, when one or both of the bed rails are lowered, the Skil-Care (tm) EZ Slide Transfer System helps prevent the resident from rolling off the bed. While a standard wedge tends to move or migrate as the resident applies a side lying force, the Skil-Care (tm) EZ Slide Transfer System utilizes an inter-locking Velcro½® system when the transfer pad is placed over the wedge it remains in place as pressure is applied.

More Information

Skil-Care EZ Slide Transfer Positioning System Purpose
The Skil-Care EZ Slide Transfer Positioning System allows one caregiver to turn and position heavier residents easily, reducing caregiver exposure to back injury. Consisting of two vinyl wedged bolsters and a fluid-proof absorbent transfer pad, the positioning system can be used to position the patient on their side, helping to release pressure sores, particularly in the coccyx area. A side-lying resident can be supported on both sides, and when one or both bedside rails are lowered, the bolster system helps prevent residents from rolling off the bed. The included wipeable pad protects the mattress and linens from fluid while also serving as a transfer pad. This system can also be used for side-positioning a patient during mat assessment.

Skil-Care EZ Slide Transfer Positioning System Includes:
  • TLC Positioning Pad (555015)
  • Two 34" Wedges

Available In-Bed Resident Positioning System Accessories:
  • Mesh Sheets
  • Nylon Sheets
  • Various Sized Bed Bolsters

Skil-Care EZ Slide Transfer Positioning System Features:
The Skil-Care EZ Slide Transfer Positioning System consists of a 40" x 48" absorbent transfer pad and two vinyl coated foam wedges. Linens and mattresses are protected by the fluid-proof positioning pad, which is held in place with the two 30 degree vinyl wedged bolsters and Velcro straps. Thirty degrees is the optimal angle of incline for relieving pressure on the hipbone and coccyx. Made up of 3 layers, the positioning pad features a soft, brushed tricot top, a middle layer of absorbent foam, and a bottom layer of urine-proof vinyl laminated to cotton. This design comforts, relieves pressure, and protects against incontinence. Either of the bolsters or sheets can be used as components without incorporating the components into a system. Most bolster positioning systems migrate when a patient leans against it. The Skil-Care EZ Slide Transfer Positioning System features an inter-locking system that prevents the wedge from moving. It also prevents entrapment between the bed and mattress.

    Easy to Use
Most positioning wedges have a tendency of moving when the patient applies a side lying force. Utilizing an inter-locking system when transfer pad is placed over the wedge, the tow Velcro strips keep the wedges in place, even as pressure is applied. Multiple wedge positions can be used, such as one wedge with the pad or both wedges with the pad.

How to Position and Turn the Patient:
    1. Place the pad on the bed with the handles on each side facing out, to the left and right sides. Make sure there is enough room to place a pillow between the top of the pad and the headboard. The label indicating "Absorbent Side" should be placed faced up on the bed.
    2. Place the patient on the pad so that their shoulder to knee areas are directly on top of the pad. For safety, make sure that the bed rail on the side that the patient will be facing when turned on their side is in a raised position to ensure that the patient will not roll off the bed.
    3. Place a positioning wedge on the side of the bed where the patient is turned. The Velcro straps should be facing the patient, and the bolster should indicate "This Side Up" at the top of the wedge.
    4. Stand on the opposite side of the bed that you want the patient to be turned to. Grasp the handles with a two-handed overhand grip and turn the patient with a lift-and-roll motion. Sometimes it may take 2 caregivers to turn a heavy patient. In this case, both caregivers will each grasp a side handle with a two-handed overhand grip. Individual facilities will have their own protocols dictating the requirement of caregivers required to turn and position patients.
    5. When the patient is in the desired position, place a wedge beneath their back. The Velcro strip should face toward the patient and "This Side Up" must be located on top of the wedge.
    6. Caretakers can then release their grip on the handles. The patient will now be supported by the positioning wedge at their back. When it is time to turn or reposition the patient again, simply lift the pad and remove the wedges. Repeat steps one through six.

Cleaning the Skil-Care EZ Slide Transfer Positioning System:
A standard spray-type mild disinfectant cleaner and a damp cloth or sponge can be used to clean the positioning wedges. The bed pad can be cleaned by laundering using a standard white goods laundry procedure. Do not wash or dry at temperatures exceeding 180 degrees F (82 C).
