The two safety rails are on one side of the bed. They operate independently so that either can be removed or individually rotated out of the way. When access is required from both sides, two additional safety rails (Dual View) can be specified for the other side of the bed.
*Adaptive, full-length, double tier, safety rails combine the strength of solid wood with clear panels.
*Rigid construction with a high bed frame utilizing heavy tubular steel to maximize strength and stability of the sleep surface in all positions.
*Caregivers have full view for easy monitoring. User can see their environment reducing the chance of claustrophobia and encouraging a comfortable rest.
*The headboard and footboard extend below the mattress and box spring reducing the risk of entrapping an arm or leg.
*Standard SleepSafer Models offer a two tier safety rail design and are accessible from ONE SIDE ONLY. A Dual View option offers our safety rail design for both sides of the bed.
Articulating Mattress, boxspring and casters are included with purchase. For the Fixed Foundation, you have your choice of a boxpsring or bunkie board. Using a bunkie board with the Fixed Foundation will provide an additional 5 inches of space between the mattress surface and the top of the bed. We use premium, pressure reducing, memory foam mattresses that are designed for use in nursing homes, hospitals and home health care settings. They are waterproof and have an anti-bacterial covering.
When shipping to RESIDENTIAL HOME ADDRESS, the pallet will be moved to closest point of entrance of the residence.
• FIXED FOUNDATION offers a foundation with a fixed height and NO articulation. The mattress will lie flat on a box spring or bunkie board. Depending on the bed model chosen, you will have more than one choice for positioning that fixed height at the time of installation.
The height/positioning choice you make when installing the fixed foundation will determine the height of safety rail protection above the mattress. Example, if you choose to install at the lower position, this will increase the height of protection above the mattress. You may change the height of your fixed foundation at any time.
NOTE: You have a choice when choosing the Fixed foundation of a box spring or bunkie board. There is NO cost or comfort difference between the two options. The only difference in the two is the depth of each. A bunkie board offers approximately 5″ more of safety rail protection.
• MANUAL FOUNDATION offers a fixed height with NON-ELECTRIC head and knee adjustment. This foundation features head and knee adjustment by using a manual crank that is installed at in the footboard. NO high and low mattress height adjustment is available. With a hydraulic system, the hand crank is easy to use with minimal effort by the caregiver. Unlike the other foundation options that offer more than one choice for positioning the mattress height of the bed, the Manual foundation has only ONE height to install the foundation. The fixed mattress surface is 33 inches from the floor offering 12 inches of rail protection above the mattress surface (18” above the deck).
• ARTICULATED FOUNDATION offers an electric frame with a fixed height. This foundation features head and knee elevation by remote control. With the touch of a button, you can elevate the head and/or foot section of the bed. As in the Fixed foundation, there are more than one height positions to choose at time of installation.
The height/positioning choice you make when installing the Articulated foundation will determine the height of safety rail protection above the mattress. Example, if you choose to install at the lower position, this will increase the height of protection above the mattress. You may change the height of your fixed foundation at any time.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Remote Controls for Electric Foundations: The articulated electric frame has a WIRELESS remote control. The WIRELESS remote control has a 250 foot range where the radio frequency operates a bed. This can be an issue if a SECOND articulated bed in the same home, especially if beds are used a multi-bed facility. One remote will operate another bed if within 250 feet.
• HI-LO FOUNDATION offers a Hi-Lo electric frame as your foundation with FULL articulation. Not only does the head and knee section elevate, but the Hi-Lo feature allows the mattress surface to be raised or lowered by remote control. This is considered a fully electric bed. Depending on where you position the mattress within the frame will determine the amount of safety rail protection above the mattress. When lowered all the way down you will maximize the rail height above the mattress. As you begin to raise the mattress from the floor, you will decrease that safety rail height above the mattress. With the Hi-Lo foundation, you can position the mattress anywhere within the range of motion of the frame.
IMPORTANT NOTE: The Hi-Lo electric foundation has a WIRED remote control on a cord plugged into the bed and does NOT operate more than one bed. No problem to have multiple beds in one space.
