Trunk Control

The support that the Up n' Go provides to the user is delivered above the user's center of gravity. For this reason, the support not only partially lifts the user's weight but it also stabilizes the position of the user's pelvis and trunk. Thus users can work on dynamic balance and improved posture while being comfortably supported.

Sit To Stand

Moving from sitting to standing requires maximum use of leg strength and coordination. Users who may be able to stand and walk may have difficulty with this movement. The Up n' Go provides constant support for the user during this critical and difficult movement. This support supplements the users own strength and frequently makes it possible for them to attain a standing position when they were thought to have lost the ability to stand on their own.

Normal Gait

An important feature of the Up n' Go is that the support provided by the device remains constant as the user raises and lowers there trunk and shifts their weight from one leg to the other… all required elements in walking. In this respect, the Up n' Go mimics the support a user gets in Aquatic Therapy. But the Up n' Go has an additional important feature. The user is supported above their center of gravity and so the device stabilizes their pelvis and helps position their trunk over their legs.

The Up n' Go is the leading standard in true gait development. Therapists and caregivers can use this adjustable partial weight-bearing device to improve specific problem areas such as lower extremity strength, range of motion, and balance. By assisting individuals from sit to stand and allowing ambulation from a variety of positions including the bed, the Up n' Go provides support and safety that competitors can't match. Best of all, the device is lightweight and affordable so patients can continue using the device at home to continue improving and exercising in a safe environment while they develop correct and sustainable gait.

The Up n' Go is a whole new class of device that combines the best features of traditional gait trainers and partial weight bearing “lifters.” Patients with moderate to severe lower extremity disability can use the tool to improve their lower extremity strength and balance while gaining confidence and hope. Best of all, the device is lightweight and affordable so patients can use the device at home to supplement and practice what they learn in therapy.

Adjustable Handles

The Up n' Go in all size models has conveniently located handles that suit most users. These handles provide a comfortable, sometimes re-assuring place for the patient to rest their hands. They are not required to steer or otherwise use the device. But some users are most comfortable with a hand position that is based on their personal taste or need. For these users adjustable handles can be attached to the frame of the Up n' Go in a wide range of positions and angles.

Soft Chest Support

The chest support can assist users with limited trunk control to maintain an upright posture. The chest support consists of a comfortable pad which attaches to the Up n' Go with a couple straps connecting to adjustable handles (included). The straps can be adjusted to the patients height and can support the patient from going too far forwards or backwards.

The support pad is secured to the patient's chest with an easy to adjust elastic strap. The elasticity of the strap allows unrestricted breathing while still providing the necessary support. For additional support two straps around the shoulders of the patient further reduce upper body rotation.

Scissoring Support

Scissoring Bars are rigid bars (approximately 27 inches in length) that can be attached to the lower front bar of the Up n' Go gait trainer. The bars can be used singly or in combinations of up to four bars. The bars improve the ability of some users to maintain their leg positions underneath their trunk. Positioned between the legs the bars reduce the opportunity for a patient to scissor their legs while standing or walking. Positioned outside the leg(s) the bars reduce the opportunity for the patient's leg(s) to splay outward. The angle at which the Scissoring Bar is mounted is adjustable so it can be positioned to align the patient's legs from the ankle up to the knee.

Arm Support For Your Gait Trainer

Arm supports are rigid platforms that will support a patient's arm if they lack adequate motor or neurological control of their arm. The supports can be mounted on either the left or right side of the Up n' Go and are fully adjustable to achieve a comfortable arm position for the patient. An adjustable handle provides the patient with a convenient handhold. Velcro straps can be used to secure the patient's arm to the support if required.

The arm support is specifically designed to NOT allow the patient to use it as a weight bearing surface (it is intentionally located too high to allow carrying significant weight with the patient's arms). This is to keep the focus of therapy on improving strength and balance of the lower extremities. The arm supports do increase the sense of stability for some users but their primary function is to provide a comfortable place to rest a nonfunctional arm or hand.

Mobile Arm Support

This accessory has the same advantages and capabilities as the standard arm support with one major addition. This arm support can move up and down tracking the user's gait during walking. This also allows the user to sit comfortably while attached to the arm supports, something that the standard arm supports prevent. The arm supports can be easily adjusted to a variety of angles and positions to fit the user's needs.

Adjustable Tray

The adjustable tray accessory can help users be more functional while using the Up n' Go. This dynamic tray can be easily adjusted through a variety of positions and angles allowing it to function as a book stand, coffee table, and much more. The tray can be easily removed when not needed.

Front Wheel Swivel Lock

Sometimes it is useful to limit the user to walking in a straight line. While the Up n' Go comes equipped with pins to prevent the rear wheels from swiveling, a separate part is needed to lock the front wheels in line. This plastic part fits around the wheel casing and attaches to the Up n' Go's frame to keep the user on a steady trajectory.

Wheel Options

Some users have expressed an interest in larger wheels. Now the Up n' Go can be purchased with six inch wheels instead of the standard four inch wheels. Large wheels allow the device to roll over some obstacles, thus making walking outdoors a breeze. Walking on carpet is also much easier with this option.

Over Treadmill Kit

Now with the Over Treadmill Kit, you can use the Up n' Go over a treadmill. The kit is designed to allow users to easily transition back to walking on the ground and vice versa. The kit fits over most treadmills (27″W x 9″H). Uniquely, the over the treadmill kit still allows for weight-shifting while walking. The kit can be added to most Up n' Go's, but unfortunately cannot be added to portable and bariatric models.

How It Works:

Support

The Up n’ Go is a true partial weight bearing system. The support provided to the user supplements the strength that the user has in their lower extremities. This lifting support can enable users who might otherwise be unable to stand to stand and walk.
The lifting support is adjustable so that users who are able to progress in regaining (or retaining) their leg strength can progress from high support to lower or no support.

Trunk Control

The support that the Up n’ Go provides to the user is delivered above the user’s center of gravity. For this reason, the support not only partially lifts the user’s weight but it also stabilizes the position of the user’s pelvis and trunk. Thus users can work on dynamic balance and improved posture while being comfortably supported.

Sit to Stand

Moving from sitting to standing requires maximum use of leg strength and coordination. Users who may be able to stand and walk may have difficulty with this movement. The Up n’ Go provides constant support for the user during this critical and difficult movement. This support supplements the users own strength and frequently makes it possible for them to attain a standing position when they were thought to have lost the ability to stand on their own.
