What is Antibacterial Liquid Soap?

Antibacterial liquid soap is a particular form of liquid soap which includes ingredients designed to fight bacteria. The effectiveness of the soap can vary, depending on how it is used and on the ingredients. Some kill up to 99% of bacteria, while others are less potent. The utilization of antibacterial liquid soap on the hands and body is because individuals are concerned about the spread of bacteria, or to prevent bacterial infections. For example, handwashing reduces the number of bacteria on the hands, which makes it difficult to spread bacteria through the handling of shared objects, like doorknobs, or through direct contact. Antibacterial liquid soap can prevent Staphylococcus infections of the skin on the body, and it is sometimes employed to manage skin conditions like sunburns and acne.

Because of the large number of germs which are naturally present, many hospitals utilize antibacterial liquid soap for handwashing. Plus, this helps with the increased concern about the risk of spreading disease at a healthcare facility. Since staff perform many tasks which may expose the hands to new bacteria, the hands should be washed between patients. Schools and other facilities with a large number of people sharing the same space many also have antibacterial liquid soap in the bathrooms to keep bacteria to a minimum. Some like to use antibacterial liquid soap at home because of the concern about cleanliness. Although members of the same home tend to have the same bacteria, someone can bring home a bacterial infection from the outside and spread it to the others.

How do I Choose Soap for Sensitive Skin?

To choose the best soap for sensitive skin, be sure to read the label carefully because some soaps have dyes and perfumes that may be irritating to the skin. It is best to avoid artificial colorings when choosing a soap for sensitive skin. Natural soaps can be a good choice since they normally do not have dyes or harmful chemicals, but make sure there is no allergy to its plant-based ingredients.

A mineral-based soap can also be a good choice for sensitive skin. A safe bet is to look for a soap that is dermatologist recommended and tested. One ingredient to help heal dry, irritated, or overly sensitive skin is aloe vera. Soaps which contain the oils from this healing plant can help soothe the skin. A soap for sensitive skin may also include ingredients such as vitamin E and cocoa butter. Be sure to choose a soap that is not overly drying, and one that moisturizes may be beneficial.
