Driving Rehabilitation for Occupational Therapists - Course with CEU Credit

Overview

Our latest offering, a distance learning independent activity, is designed to provide medical professionals with an insightful overview of driving rehabilitation. This introductory course is offered at .1 CEUs, introductory level, Occupational Therapy Service Delivery, and has been approved by the AOTA with approval ID# 8676.

What to Expect

This course covers a wide range of topics for driving rehab, including the role of occupational therapy in driving rehabilitation, clinical driving assessments, popular adaptive equipment options, reimbursement details, and invaluable resources and tips. This course will also delve into the latest research findings in the field, ensuring that everyone is equipped with the most current and up-to-date information.

Who Can Benefit

This online class is tailored for medical professionals directly involved in the rehabilitation of patients including OT/OTA, PT/PTA, physicians, and others. To qualify for .1 CEUs or 1 contact hour, participants must be licensed, treating clinicians. Upon completing the presentation and scoring ≥ 80% on the quiz, participants will receive their CEUs.

Course Features

The course is structured to be convenient and accessible, allowing participants 90 days to complete the curriculum. It comprises an array of sections, including an overview, learning outcomes, references, a course video podcast, a course review, a quiz, and course feedback.

Learning Outcomes

Participants can look forward to gaining valuable insights, including identifying key areas to assess during both in-clinic and in-vehicle driving evaluations, as well as learning about low- and high-tech adaptive equipment options to enhance independence while driving. We’ve included some examples of the adaptive equipment below!

Instructors

The course is led by experienced instructors Dorothee Zuleger and Rachel Penn, ensuring that participants receive expert guidance. 

Dorothee Zuleger, MOT, OTR/L, CBIS, CSRS, CDRS. Dorothee is an occupational therapist and founder of the Neuro Hub located in Central Florida. A graduate of Advant Health University, Dorothee provides her passion and over 10 years of experience in neurological rehabilitation through a client-centered, evidence-based treatment approach.

Rachel Penn, OTR/L, CDRS. Rachel Penn is a certified Driving Rehabilitation Specialist and licensed occupational therapist from Longwood, Florida. She is a graduate of Advent Health University, earning a master’s in occupational therapy in 2013.
