What is a Back-A-Line Dynamic Back Support?

Offering two technologies in one innovative pain relief solution for chronic back pain sufferers, the Back-A-Line Dynamic Back Support provides dynamic muscle support along with postural assistance and correction. With its patented “curved-and-firm” pad in a non-elastic belt combined with BIOflex® magnetic therapy, these revolutionary back supports also help to improve circulation and reduce pain.

How do Back-A-Line Dynamic Back Supports Work?

Back-A-Line’s patented curved and firm lumbar pad corrects spinal mechanics at a behavioral level (proprioceptive feedback), and facilitates a biomechanical response which helps provide stability while also limiting future regression that can compromise muscle motor patterns. This curved and firm configuration also helps to create correct muscle memory for a healthier and more stable back. The patented orthopedically correct lumbar belt with the curved and firm pad presents a guaranteed fit and snug support for any user, while the clinically proven configuration of BIOflex® magnets have been proven to improve circulation and reduce pain within the affected area of the back.

What is a Proprioceptive Response?

According to medical studies, a “curved and firm” surface pressed against the lower back, or lumbar region, helps to improve the spinal mechanics by creating a proprioceptive feedback response. This is a dynamic where the injured or mis-aligned tissues of the lower back reorient their positioning to the natural and original alignment, working at the subconscious, or behavioral level of the body to help correct poor postural habits of repeated twisting, bending, or reaching from the waist. When wearing a Back-A-Line back support with the patented curved and firm pad, the repeated movements create new muscle memory within the lumbar region and in doing so, replace the previously incorrect postural habits. This reduces or eliminates the pain incurred by the preceding misaligned spine, and allows the newly aligned spine to safely stay within a normal range of motion for any unexpected or expected movement.

What are BIOflex® Therapeutic Magnets, and how do They Work?

As an exciting new patented technology, BIOflex® Concentric Circle Therapeutic Magnets have been clinically proven to improve circulation and reduce pain through independent scientific studies from research centers and leading universities across the country. Manufactured specifically for human medical use, BIOflex® Therapeutic Magnets offer a unique magnetic field configuration of constant and gradient fields that can modulate the body’s normal production of anti-inflammatory chemicals from the cells in the affected tissue area, accelerating pain relief and increased blood flow.

Applying BIOflex® concentric circle magnets provides a combination of constant and gradient magnetic fields to the weakened area, assuring a sufficient magnetic field dose to superficial and deep tissues in the affected area.

The magnetic fields can influence the affected area in two ways:

Increased blood flow, or the vasodilation of veins and arteries caused by the magnetic fields, escalates the flow of oxygen and other nutrients along with the expanded blood effusion, augmenting the body’s natural healing processes in the affected area.

Increased lymph flow derived from the magnetic fields will cause lymph vessel dilation, accelerating the reduction of swelling in the affected area, and decreasing a major source of musculoskeletal pain.

How Does the Back-A-Line Dynamic Back Support Differ From Other Back Supports?

Back-A-Line is the only back support manufacturer that includes a curved and firm lumbar pad to help correct spinal mechanics through proprioceptive feedback. This assists in the correction of the spinal tissues behaviorally reorient their positioning, influencing positive and natural postural habits and keeping the spine within a safe range of motion.

The typical elastic “girdle” back support products will claim to improve posture by physically reminding a person to lift properly through a physically restrictive and tight reminder. Yet, in reality, the elastic will simply squeeze the existing poor posture. Also, because the spine doesn’t receive any proprioceptive feedback signal to assist the spine realignment, the spine will not feel any need to change the existing and unaligned spinal curve.

In addition, the girdle-type back support manufacturers have urged wearers to tighten the belt when lifting, and release it when not lifting. But, users will typically do more than just lift objects; they will also twist, bend and reach, stretching the spinal and core tissues of muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia, resulting in fatigued and weakened muscles. Conversely, the Back-A-Line back support reinforces the lumbar region for all of these movements, minimizing the mechanical risks of poor posture during twisting/bending/reaching maneuvers, helping to alleviate pain and strain to the back.

Who Can Benefit from a Back-A-Line Dynamic Back Support?

Basically, anybody who has a back will benefit from wearing a Back-A-Line Dynamic Back Support. This ingenious back support can be used by workers in various facilities such as hospitals, warehouses, lawn companies, loading docks, and food service, while it is also perfect for everyday activities inclusive of yard work, around the house jobs and child care. Mothers, fathers, caregivers, gardeners, farmers and anyone else who bends, lifts, reaches or twists on a daily basis can benefit from using the Back-A-Line back support. And remember, the spine and its attendant muscles can become tired and ready to go out of alignment at any time over even the simplest of tasks like tying shoes, a sudden bumping into something when walking, or even with picking a newspaper up off of the ground.

Does Back-A-Line Work for Everyone with a Back Problem?

No, not everybody will benefit from the use of a Back-A-Line back support. About 5% of the population will have some sort of spinal anomaly such as spinal fusion, scoliosis or kyphotic posture. For this population of individuals, the Back-A-Line will not be able to adjust their spine to the curve of the curved and firm lumbar pad and can actually make it somewhat uncomfortable for them. While Back-A-Line will work for most people who may suffer from back fatigue problems or moderate to severe lower back pain, the Back-A-Line back support is not a substitute for healthcare treatment or the care of a healthcare professional.

What Scientific Research or Reviews Reinforces the use of Back-A-Line?

A Miami of Ohio study of the Back-A-Line back support proved that this dynamic support can keep the spine in a safe range of motion, and credits its successful results to proprioceptive feedback.

Harvard Medical School summarizes that the Back-A-Line patented ‘curved and firm” pad does provide a proprioceptive and apparent pain blocking feature, and can be used as a desirable form of an orthosis.

Also, two university peer reviewed studies confirm that the patented “curved and firm” lumbar support pad works with reducing back pain, while at least 40 independent evaluations consisting of 1,500 people, including participants from the US Army, concluded that a vast majority of the users enjoyed a significant reduction in back injuries as well as a significant reduction in back pain and fatigue.

Back-A-Line has also been granted the only Seal of Acceptance for back supports from the American Osteopathic Academy of Sports Medicine.
