What is a therapy bench?
A therapy bench is a bench that helps children and adults to learn better posture and balance. It helps achieve maximum hand and arm movements for learning, play, and daily living activities. Different therapy benches help to achieve many different things. For instance, the adjustable angle bench helps to improve the anterior pelvic tilt and erect sitting posture; it also helps to increase weight bearing through the lower extremities. The adjustable straddle bench helps to learn balance and can be adjusted to either rock or be a stationary bench. The adult angle straddle bench can be modified into three different benches; standard bench, angle bench, and a rocking bench.
How do I know which bench to use?
To know which bench to order will depend on the needs of the patient it is being ordered for. For patients that need to learn better arm and hand functions, the tilting therapy benches are a better choice because they help to place more weight on the feet and help to learn postural control. The adjustable straddle benches help to keep the knees from bowing inwards and set up a better seating position.
