What are Nesting Stools?
Nesting stools, or physical therapy steps, are independent steps which come in different height levels to form various elevation patterns used for improving balance training and body mechanics. They are ideal for stepping, crawling, and climbing activities for children and adults for rehabilitation, therapy, or training, and also for those with physical disabilities. Also, they can be used at a desk or during seated mat activities. Nesting stools additionally help those who need assistance strengthening the lower body, and those who are recovering from injuries.
Performing physical therapy exercises on these steps help contract and stretch leg muscles while also working the heart and lungs through anaerobic exercise. When not in use, they can be stacked together within each other or on top of each other for easy transporting and to save storage space. Nesting stools are typically made of wood or plastic, have a non-slip surface to prevent slipping and falling, and are available in sets of 3 or 4. Their weight capacity varies, but some can accommodate up to 550 pounds.
What are Training Stools?
Some training stools, also known as climbing stairs, teach an individual to get in and out of a wheelchair without assistance. They securely hook together and can be arranged in any sequence, so when the user gets more skilled the stools can be removed. These stools vary in height from 4 inches to 20 inches and their weight capacity is 300 pounds.
What is an Exercise Balance Platform?
An exercise balance platform provides a stable base for lower extremity or balance rehabilitation devices, such as ankle exercisers, steps, foot stools, or a vestibular balance board. It has height adjustable handrails to offer balance support which can adjust from 26 inches to 44 inches high. This platform is ideal when needing rehabilitation for a lower extremity due to an injury or after surgery. Its base is a full 3 foot by 3 foot carpeted platform for a non-slip surface and for comfort.
