Whether or not you’ve used a Hand Truck or Hand Dolly before, it’s been a part of your life. Movers use them to transport belongings into a new home, shipping couriers use them to lug boxes from the manufacturer’s facility to your front door, and warehouse workers use them to ferry equipment across large spaces easily. But did you know that Hand Trucks and Dollies are also frequently used in medical settings?

Hospital staff will use a hand truck or hand dollies to quickly and efficiently haul oxygen tanks, wheelchairs, oxygen concentrators, and diagnostic equipment; when you need to get a cumbersome piece of equipment across a large hospital with hallways that seemingly never end, wouldn’t it be best to prevent potential strain, fatigue, or injury? With these helpful devices, you can eliminate the chance of accidents while boosting efficiency and productivity.

What’s the difference between hand trucks and dollies?

Hand trucks are often mistakenly called hand dollies. While their purpose may be the same, their designs are starkly different:

  • Hand dollies have four wheels and at least one handle for navigation. Some models boast one handle on both ends to facilitate tasks that require two people at a time. Dollies also feature two axles to make maneuvering that much easier. To put an item on a dolly, you’ll need to lift them up and onto the platform.
  • Hand trucks boast two wheels and a stand-up design. These tools are intended to be used by a single person and have a flat, rigid component that slides up and under items. To put something on a hand truck, all you need to do is slide this component under an object, then tilt the handle backward so that the item rests against the back of the hand truck securely.

No matter your need or preference, Rehabmart offers a large assortment of hand trucks and dollies to help you get your job done safely, accurately, and efficiently.
