The only two differences in the two models is the platform size and hitch classes. The platform on the AL580 model measures 16.5" x 27" and the platform on the AL580 XL model is slightly larger, measuring 17.5"½ x 27"½. While both models have the same lifting capacity, the larger model is ideal for the larger powered wheelchairs.
