Therapy You Wear: Make the Benefits of Physical Therapy Last with TheraTogs

Physical therapy provides immeasurable benefits to individuals with sensorimotor impairments, helping them to live with independence and freedom of movement.

The more time patients spend in PT, the better their results will be – but no one can be at their therapist’s office all the time!

Wouldn’t it be great if there were a way to keep the gains made during therapy going even after the session is over?

Turns out, there is! TheraTogs is an innovative line of products that lets you or your loved one get the most out of therapy and make even greater strides towards a better quality of life!

Developed in 2002 by pediatric therapist Beverly Cusick, PT, NDT, MS, COF, TheraTogs allow children and adults in physical therapy for neuromotor conditions and CNS disorders to “take the therapist’s hands home” with them and maximize the results of their time in the clinic.

If you’re dealing with treatment that requires assistance with muscle and joint issues, TheraTogs can help with your recovery needs. With over 35 years of therapeutic experience, Beverly invented this line of products after three years of research and development so that her passion for helping patients could be available to everyone.

What’s a TheraTog?

To put it briefly, TheraTogs are versatile rehabilitation garments developed to be worn between physical therapy sessions, so that users can continue their treatment even while going about their daily routines!

If they sound bulky or impractical, think again. TheraTogs are designed to be worn under the clothes and in all climates. Made of patented GoldTone fabric, they have an inner foam layer that is soft and comfortable against the skin and a Velcro-sensitive outer layer for easy strap attachment. All TheraTogs devices are adjustable, so the user can reap the greatest possible therapeutic results from wearing the device.

TheraTogs are an FDA-approved Class I medical device. This means that they pose a minimal risk of harm to patients, and are not subject to the more strenuous controls placed on Class II or III devices. They should, however, be used only under the direction of a licensed healthcare provider.

Who could benefit from using TheraTogs?

While herself a specialist in pediatric conditions, particularly lower extremity deformities, Beverly developed TheraTogs to be used for a wide variety of physical and neurological conditions that can impair movement and coordination. And, while originally designed for infants and children, the current line of TheraTogs products provides ample options for adults in need of support.

By allowing therapeutic reinforcement to continue after time at the clinic has ended, TheraTogs can promote greater compliance, accelerated completion of PT goals, and even financial savings.

Therapy is great, but often not cheap. Wearing a TheraTog device for even one hour every day for 6 months amounts to about 180 hours of therapy. Assuming a low average cost of $75 per one hour of clinical therapy, this minimal use amounts to $13,500 in savings! With prices for the device ranging from about $300 to $1,200, it begins to seem less like an investment and more like a deal.

TheraTogs products are also time-savers: because the device is worn passively, while the user goes about their daily life, everything from making breakfast to walking the dog becomes an exercise in low-effort multi-tasking.

For children and adults with diverse medical needs, TheraTogs provide a way to save time and money while continuing to make progress towards therapeutic goals.

What products does TheraTogs offer?

TheraTogs are made for a wide range of individuals, from infants to larger adults. They also come in numerous different systems, each with different intended uses and audiences. Whether you need full body support or your child needs help with fine motor skills, Rehabmart has got you covered.

What are customers saying about TheraTogs?

“I have been using TheraTogs on patients for close to 10 years. In addition to their individual gains and improved outcomes, I’m also seeing a clear trend in a third less time spent in ongoing therapy. The families are thrilled, and what a cost savings!”

- Nancy J. Dilger, MA, PT, PCS, C/NDT, CKTP, Board Certified Pediatric Clinical Specialist

“I have a daughter with Choreoathatoid CP, ataxia and hypotonia. She is five and receives therapy bi-weekly. We met with her PT and OT and they showed a video of our daughter wearing TheraTogs. We could not believe our eyes. What an incredible product you have!”

- Melissa, Parent

“The change in her walking is AMAZING. She used to walk with her left leg turned in 45 to 90 degrees. Braces were not stopping this rotation from the hip. But now both of her feet face forward! She looks great and absolutely loves wearing her ‘super suit’.”

- Daria, Parent
