Why We Love the WeWalk Smart Cane

Uses Google Maps to Navigate

The WeWalk integrates with your smartphone and has precise location detection giving you turn-by-turn navigation. Customizable options allow you to receive the directions with either “right and left cues” or from a clockwise approach. Audible directions can be provided either from the cane directly or through the app. Although not necessary, if looking at your smartphone, all the verbal information is displayed along with a map. Rest assured that with your WeWalk you will get to your destination with discrete distance cueing, address specifics, and precise instructions.

Pair to Your Smartphone

The WeWalk smart cane seamlessly integrates with its associated app and is compatible with Android 4.4 and above and iOS 10 and above. A premium subscription to the WeWalk app comes bundled with your WeWalk smart cane purchase providing you access to all the premium menu options including navigation, exploration, and transport features. Customizable options within the app provide accessibility for low vision users including color inversion and text size variation.

Connects with Public Transport

Connect your WeWalk with public transportation and get turn-by-turn GPS navigation to nearby public transport stops including buses, metro, and train lines. Plan your day by reviewing a list of stops that the public transport will be making and hop onboard. When aboard public transport, select your desired stop and WeWalk will notify you via in-app and audio notification when your stop is approaching.

Hands-Free Option

When managing your device, hands-free accessibility is key. That’s why WeWalk was designed with multiple options allowing you to access the controls, connect to your Bluetooth headphones, or use the speaker all from the TouchPad on the cane. Once the app is opened, your phone can stay comfortably in your pocket while you’re in control and on the go!

Discover and Explore

Maybe your vision impairment held you back before, but not anymore! The WeWalk Smart Cane allows you to discover and explore. Ask the app- “what’s around me?” and explore new coffee shops, restaurants, or local attractions. Save your favorite locations to “My Places” or search for a new spot and WeWalk will direct you there. Take a trip in confidence or be a tourist in your own city with your newfound freedom.

Detects Obstacles in Front of You

Unlike traditional white canes, the WeWalk Smart Cane uses an invisible laser on the front of the cane to detect objects both in front of you and at and above chest level. With vibrating technology, the cane can alert you to obstacles such as street signs, lamp posts, and low-hanging branches which may have posed a safety hazard previously. The cane offers 4 obstacle detection settings to choose from with range options varying from 80 centimeters to 160 centimeters. Along with your foundational white cane training skills, the WeWalk provides you with improved detection to keep you safer and more independent.

Can’t Find Your WeWalk? No Problem

The WeWalk was created with you in mind, with device-specific features allowing you to track both your WeWalk device and your smartphone. Simply open your app and click on “Where is my WeWalk” and a tone will sound. Conversely, if you have your WeWalk and lose your phone, press “find my phone” through the control toggle on the cane and your phone tone will sound. With technology on your side, it has never been easier to get up and get going!

Ergonomic Design

Ergonomics is at the forefront of WeWalk. Made with high-quality materials and weighing in at only half a pound, the WeWalk is both durable and lightweight. The handle offers a non-slip grip surface and a wrist strap to keep the device safe and comfortable in your hand. The controlling touchpad lies just above the thumb and two control buttons lie directly next to your thumb, putting accessibility literally at your fingertips.

What Are Customers Saying?

The WeWalk Smart Cane is an important contribution to technology for the visually impaired. I recently purchased one and have been using it with my Samsung smartphone. Integrating with the app and pairing it with my Bluetooth was pretty easy. I love that you can adjust how the directions are provided. The handle feels sturdy and rests comfortably in my hand. The roller tip can freely swivel and can detect objects in the way from approximately 6-8 inches. I am pleased and excited to see what further integrations the company will do!”

“I wish I got a WeWalk years ago- I have bumped into so many things, particularly in my face and head but with the WeWalk, it can detect objects above and below me. I feel safer being on my own and love feeling more independent.”

-Susie G.

“My wife is a sign language interpreter and frequently works with the blind and visually impaired. She has recommended this device to multiple of her clients based on others' recommendations.”
