The Acta-Back® Contour Planar Wheelchair Positioning Back provides additional pelvic and lower trunk support without limiting range of motion in the upper thoracic region. Unlike traditional planar back supports, this support features lightweight aluminum stays that are uniquely moldable; users can adjust the stays to their positioning needs on the spot without needing to leave the wheelchair. This creates a support surface unique to the individual, which can help prevent high peak pressures by providing more cushion contact.
The cushion itself is designed to accommodate a variety of irregular spinal curvatures; three layers of high-density foam including a Visco memory foam upper layer provide optimal comfort and conformity, while the lightweight and breathable cover material stretches to reduce pressure and skin shear. This cushion is especially useful for individuals who require more efficacious pelvic alignment and support, and/or mild to aggressive thoracic and lumbar positioning support. Two style choices are available, each with a comprehensive range of sizes. Multiple mounting hardware styles are also available to suit the user's wheelchair and positional needs.
Hardware Mounting Options:
As a standard inclusion with the Acta-Back and available as fixed, quick-release, 2 point, or 4 point, Compass 4 hardware is quick and easy to install on .75 in., .875 in., and 1 in. wheelchair tubing, and recline angle, depth and height adjustments can be made while the user remains in the wheelchair. Power Mount hardware options are also available as an additional purchase, and include power seating systems from Quantum, Permobil, Quickie and more.
