Most chairs have places to which the patient safety Econo-Alarm may be attached. Since there are so many types of chairs, it is impossible to provide instructions for them all. The hook and loop strap is adaptable to most. We have provided two illustrations below that show placement of the alarm and strap on chairs other than wheelchairs and geri-chairs.
How to Use the Econo-Alarm Magnetic Patient Safety Alarm
1. Place the magnet on the alarm.
2. Remove the warm compartment cover and insert the included 9-volt battery. Replace the alarm compartment cover.
3. Test the battery by removing the magnet. If the alarm sounds, replace the magnet and proceed to the following steps. If it does not sound, check all battery connections or replace the battery.
4. Wheelchair attachment: The Econo-Alarm Magnetic Patient Safety Alarm may be secured to the wheelchair by using only the spring clips on the back of the alarm or with the clips and supplied Velcro strap.
Clip Only
- Clip the alarm to the back of the wheelchair.
- Secure the metal clip at end of cord to back of the patient's/resident's shirt or blouse. Use the slider to adjust the cord to the desired length.
Clip Velcro Strap
Wrap the Velcro strap around the vertical support bar above the wheel axel. Insert the narrow end though the slot in the wide end.
Pull narrow end through the slot so that there is an overlap of about two inches. Press the hook side against the loop side to fasten. Clip the alarm unit to the Velcro strap.
Secure the metal clip at the end of the cord to the back of the resident's shirt or blouse. Use the slide to adjust to cord to desired length.
5. Geri-Chair attachment. Secure the Econo-Alarm Magnetic Patient Safety Alarm to the Geri-Chair as follows:
Wrap the Velcro strap around the geri-chair push-bar. Insert the narrow end through the slot in the wide end.
Pull the narrow end through the slot so there is an overlap of about two inches. Press the hook side against the loop side to fasten.
Secure the metal clip at the end of the cord to the back of the resident's shirt or blouse. Use the slide to adjust the cord to desired length.

Econo-Alarm Magnetic Patient Safety Alarm Safety Tip
Check the alarm before each use. Remove the magnet. If the alarm is weak or fails to sound, replace the 9-volt battery.
