The direct drive gearing encourages coordinating pedaling of the legs with average pedal power, while the self-centering spring supports better hand-eye coordination. Operating the bike on a regular basis can also improve the users sense of balance and coordination, range of motion and motor planning skills, as well as encourage better blood circulation and proper hip-to-foot positioning.
The AS 2600 Adventure Adaptive Bike comes equipped with a quick-release feature on all the adjustable parts, allowing them to be easily removed to be out of the way during travelling, while also making customizing the bike to each users individual needs and preferences simple and easy.
All the standard bike essentials, such as a safety flag, wheel reflectors, and bell, along with a variety of optional accessories can be found on the bike. Rear steering is available that allows the caregiver to steer and brake from behind, adding a measure of security during the ride. The extension handle for the rear steering adds extra distance between the bike and the caregiver, ideal for those with longer legs or those who wish to jog while pushing the bike.
Proper positioning accessories include a four-point chest harness that helps the rider remain upright without effort so their focus can remain on steering and propelling the bike. The washable Neoprene material of the harness is also stretchable to best adjust to the rider. Premium lateral supports are available and can be added to one or both sides of the seat, providing height- and width-adjustable trunk support that can grow as the rider grows. The Velcro Occiput head support cushion can provide support in targeted areas as needed.
