The Kerlix AMD Antimicrobial Gauze Bandage Roll contains PHMB (Polyhexamethylene Biguanide) that is a powerful and safe antiseptic with a broad range of effectiveness against gram-negative and gram-positive microorganisms that include such multi-drug resistant strains as methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus (VRE) as well as being effective against bacteria such as fungi and yeast.
The Kerlix AMD bandage gauze also provides superior aeration, fast-wicking ability, and excellent absorbency of wound exudate. The bandage helps to resist bacterial colonization by preventing infections from growing and spreading in the dressing which makes it highly effective in limiting cross-contamination from patient to patient, or patient to a clinician, and by significantly reducing bacterial growth in the pooling layer of the bandage it limits cross-contamination between the patient to his immediate environment that is shared by others.
The broad-spectrum effectiveness helps to reduce the risk of most hospital-acquired infections and the primary bacterial barrier protection of the bandage works as a contact kill and maintains log counts in the user's wound without producing any negative impact to the wound healing.
The Kerlix AMD bandage can be used as a standard Kerlix dressing as a primary dressing to protect against infection and keep objects and germs from entering the wound site, and also to prevent bacterial penetration through the dressing and bacterial growth within the dressing.
The 4.5 in. by 4.1 yards bandage rolls of Kerlix AMD antimicrobial gauze are available in a case of 60 or 100 counts.
