Low Vision Deluxe Chess and Checkers Set

MaxiAids Deluxe Chess and Checkers Deluxe board game allows visually impaired individuals to experience the age-old board games with all other players. While the board has the traditional 8x8 checkered pattern, the thirteen-inch wooden frame features specially constructed peg holes to keep pieces stable and raised or lowered surfaces to distinguish the difference between each player.

The Chess pieces are crafted in several ways to benefit the visually impaired players to identify their game pieces without issue. Each side starts with eight pawns, two bishops, two knights, two castles, the queen, and the king. However, each game piece has wooden pegs to avoid accidental movement during gameplay. Similarly, the second player's chess pieces are marked with metal tips to prevent any misguided or quick checkmates from either player.

Each purchase usually includes a pair of specially designed checkers in a plastic carrying case. MaxiAid created their wooden checker discs with rods like the Chess pieces to prevent pieces from slipping or accidentally moving during the game. However, the two-person game has the player with specially designed raised-circle-topped discs to make the first move. While each game always starts with twelve pieces for each player, six additional King pieces are also included. These king pieces are double the height of regular uncrowned checker pieces.

Each purchase often includes a board, one set of chess pieces, and one set of checker pieces.
