The PressureGuard Easy Air LR is an advanced surface system that combines cutting-edge technology with practical design features. At its core is the proprietary Air Diffusion Matrix, a three-dimensional liner that ensures uninterrupted airflow in both the cover and coverlet. This technology, coupled with the PressureGuard air/foam design, allows the Easy Air LR to outperform leading low air loss systems in moisture management without compromises.
The outer coverlet of the Easy Air LR is highly vapor-permeable, offering superior airflow. It's designed for easy maintenance, wiping clean with standard cleaners and being machine-launderable. The inner air delivery cover features a dedicated air supply that constantly directs air to sweep away moisture vapor.
The system offers three treatment modalities: Alternating Pressure, which gently changes loading across the surface in 15-minute cycles; "Float" Mode, providing active, powered flotation therapy; and Lateral Rotation, a versatile option for various needs, also on a 15-minute cycle.
The PressureGuard design incorporates an integrated air system with an engineered foam shell and a "Safety Edge" bolster system. This design includes a Geo-Matt® style foam topper with individual foam cells and head-to-foot cylinders for enhanced pressure distribution. A Heel Slope feature transfers some load to more tolerant areas.
The control unit is streamlined and lightweight, using less than 15 watts and generating minimal heat and noise. It features a timed Auto Firm mode, simple comfort adjustment with a "Max Immersion" setting, a lockout function, and a Normal/Low Pressure indicator. The unit is designed for durability with recessed, shielded connectors and a detachable power cord.
For specialized needs, a recessed deck version is available, featuring V-shaped edges to fit recessed deck bedframes and a compressible section to accommodate various lengths and positions.
The “True” Test: Moisture Control
There is no universally accepted definition of “low air loss”
(LAL) in medical literature. As a result, claims are made that
“true” or “genuine” low air loss is defined by construction
features such as air flow volume, cover fabric, or air loss
method. But clinicians primarily prescribe LAL for its unique
ability to minimize maceration and heat build-up by removing
excess moisture. Therefore, quantifying the amount of moisture
it removes is the most meaningful validation of a LAL system’s
effectiveness. Head-to-head testing done in conjunction with
a major university verifies that the PressureGuard Easy Air
surpasses all leading competitors in this key performance criterion.
