The purpose of the Rifton Horizontal Anchor is to provide individuals with the ability to use a hand anchor while maintaining their forearm in a prone position, or flat on the supporting surface. The hand and arm stabilizer is easy to apply and remove to any horizontal, flat surface, allowing for it to be used in different locations. Additionally, the Rifton Horizontal Anchor is secured by an industrial suction cup at the bottom. The arm stabilizer should not be utilized on vertical surfaces or to assist with transferring an individual.

Do you have a patient or more that would benefit from a hand anchor but cannot grip the regular hand stabilizer due to the need to keep their forearm on the supporting surface? The Rifton Horizontal Anchor is designed for those individuals that would contribute to supporting their stabilization of the upper extremities. The hand stabilizer allows patients to stabilizer their arm and shoulder by holding onto the hand grip and confining their forearm to the surface of support.

The Rifton Horizontal Anchor is made to assist users with performing everyday tasks, such as eating, by providing a stabilized tool for them to hold onto. The arm stabilizer anchors the patient's hand and arm, preventing disruption of a task. One example of this would be a young child first coming into a classroom. He would try to eat his snack but was unsuccessful due to his motor condition which made his movements rapid and abrupt. When we would give this student his snack of 20 crackers, he would possibly get one in his mouth. Since using the anchors, he is able to control his movements more, boosting his confidence and independence.
