ROHO's Dry Flotation Non-Powered Mattress Overlay with Cover fits over an existing hospital, nursing home, or homecare mattress to redistribute forces, reducing pressure, friction, and shear. Made with 720 durable polyvinyl air cells divided into 4 independently adjustable sections that can be inflated or deflated depending on immersion needs, the mattress overlay treats and prevents ischemic ulcers and skin integrity issues, including myocutaneous flaps.

Drainage holes in the mattress overlay's base draw fluid away from the client, which is particularly beneficial for those with incontinence issues. Because the mattress overlay uses a hand pump, rather than a powered inflation pump, the client is protected at all times, even during power outages. Choose from an included Standard One-Piece Cover or a Two-Piece Enclosure Cover.

More Information

The ROHO Dry Flotation Non-Powered Mattress Overlay with Cover is considered a Group 2 Support Surface for treating and preventing pressure ulcers and skin integrity issues in at-risk patients. ROHO mattress overlay foam inserts and ROHO leveling pads can be used with the mattress overlay system for extra protection.

ROHO's Dry Flotation Technology
Dry flotation technology uses air cells that move in all directions, allowing for the freedom of movement. Made with neoprene material, the air cells compress, bend, and twist. This action minimizes shear, friction and deformation of the air cells on the body, even during movement. Mimicking a floating movement, the user is suspended with low surface tension and friction. This ability to deeply immerse the body produces a feeling of weightlessness that is comfortable and therapeutic.

ROHO Dry Flotation Mattress Overlay System Includes:
  • (4) Dry Flotation Sections
  • Registration Card
  • Hand Inflation Pump
  • Repair Kit
  • Operating Instructions
  • (1) Cover

    What's the difference?
  • The "standard" (1-piece) cover is more of a hair-net style with elastic/fitted corners that fit around the corners, but the cover does not have a bottom.
  • The two-piece cover is a full enclosure cover with a zipper whereby the overlay is encapsulated inside. The main benefit of the two-piece cover versus the standard is the ability to fully enclose the overlay mattress. This cover consists of two pieces - top and bottom which zip together - to allow for the removal of the top portion for ease of cleaning if needed without removing the entire product from the bed.

The ROHO Dry Flotation Non-Powered Mattress Overlay with Cover is not made with any natural rubber latex.

My mother has a hospital bed, and would this work? Would it stay put and not shift when the bed moves? What keeps this overlay in place?
Answer: The MATTSYSC comes with a fitted "hairnet" cover with elastic corners that wrap around the corners of the Dry Flotation overlay and the mattress beneath for a secure fit. This thing is amazing in part because, when you have to position a patient who doesnt have bed mobility, you have to physically position them the way you want to position them. In hospitals, youd prop pillows underneath them to create pressure points and to create pressure between the mattress and their skin.
With this overlay, which is only 3 in thick, these positioning pads or bolsters which technically add pressure to the body parts go underneath the Roho mattress.
It's not perfect, but it's so extremely close to perfect, it's amazing.
My dad is a 90-year-old who is otherwise healthy but has just lost a lot of his mobility and the mattress does a perfect job at unweighting the pressure points. It unweights the fibula area perfectly; its just fantastic.
I dont have words to describe how fantastic it is, but what I can tell you is that the positioning bolsters you need in order to position someone so theyre not totally side-lying but dont rock all the way onto their back are difficult to use with a regular mattress. With this mattress, you can put the positioning bolsters underneath the mattress, which is just amazing. If youve had to position people with pillows and bolsters, you realize how uncomfortable that is for the patient; with this, it creates equal pressure underneath all those areas using its air cells.
With this mattress overlay, the patients body just relaxes in such a way that they never would with lots of bolsters stuffed under them. The skin is equally weighted underneath all the areas with no unequal pressure, and that allows the patient comfort even when theyre positioned by someone else.
We have six Roho cushions for different reasons and different things; theres always an extra one lying around the house and I sit on it all the time. This cushion will turn any chair into a fantastic chair for just an ordinary person. These things are amazing- while traveling on an airplane where the seats have little to no cushion, this turns it into a luxurious chair. With any regular chair, even if it is cushioned, it still bottoms out and creates an uneven pressure. With a Roho cushion, you could take an inexpensive chair and turn it into a luxury chair.
Very few people get to experience this technology- any ordinary person would not like it at first. Your body and bones and muscles are used to having those uneven pressure points that are not necessarily causing you any damage, whereas the Roho cushion will create light pressure where youve never felt it and alleviate pressure on the heavy pressure points.
Its fantastic- I wouldve bought a larger one but you had this one for 1700 so I did it. I dont have the words to say how fantastic it is. I would buy another one at a drop of a hat and would pay $3-4000 if I had to.
I have been sitting on the Roho seat cushion for years, but it took me quite a bit of time to take the plunge to buy the mattress and I wish I had bought the larger one for $3000. I might buy a second one in the future. you cant get better than the Roho original.
The fundamental thing is that you can put positioning bolsters below the overlay so theyre not directly against the skin and so the areas are unweighted like the rest of the body that doesnt have a positioning pad against it.
You can put firm pads underneath the overlay and dont have to be fooling with soft pillow type positioning pads that are more difficult to manage. This is truly amazing and a lot of this I did not anticipate.
