What is a Liquid Level Indicator?
Liquid indicators are compact, lightweight devices that detect the level of liquids in a cup or container, such as coffee, tea, water or juice. They either sound an alarm audibly or vibrate or both when your container is near full and full. The tones make these devices very useful to those with visual impairment.
How Do I Use a Liquid Level Indicator?
To use a liquid level indicator, place the device on the side of your cup or container with the prongs on the inside to avoid over-filling it. Pour in your liquid, and when the liquid reaches the tip of the prongs, the device will alarm. The alarm will stop when you remove it from the liquid.
Some of the indicators have 2 prongs. This makes them able to detect two different levels of liquid. When your container is nearly full, an alarm will sound. When your container is full, the sound of the alarm will change. This allows you to pour tea or coffee to one level and to then add cream or milk to the second level.
By having an audible or vibrating alarm, you don’t have to tell yourself or someone else when to stop filling your cup or container by hooking your finger over the rim of it. Therefore, you are able to avoid burning your fingertips. It’s also great to have when you are entertaining guests. It eliminates the embarrassment of overfilling their cups of coffee, tea or juice.
Some indicator devices are made to be used on a toilet so you are alerted if your toilet bowl is about to overflow.
