For patients with diminished leg strength, poor balance, or other mobility-related limitations, the process of training themselves to walk can be frustrating and even dangerous if not done correctly or done without the supervision of a caregiver. The Hi-Lo Lift Walker from Arjo is a powerful rehabilitative and developmental aid designed to help patients recover or improve their ability to walk on their own in a safe and encouraging environment.

The hi-lo feature of this walker can be either hydraulically or electrically powered to suit the frequency with which patients will need to be raised from a sitting to standing position with the walkers assistance. A detachable spade seat can be used to aid in the raising process and then quickly and easily removed during walking exercises. Once the patient is standing, the walker can be raised or lowered as needed to ensure it is the proper height for the patient.

To reduce the risk of falls, the patient can be secured to the walker with straps designed to encourage proper posture. The U-shaped walking area is padded and extends out to provide a comfortable support for the patients elbows and forearms. Two ergonomically-shaped handles with integrated depressions for the fingers give patients something solid to hold on to as they go; the position of these handles can be independently adjusted to suit the patients preference.

The hydraulic lift uses a pump-action handle on top that caregivers use to operate the hi-lo feature.
