Product Overview:

Provide patients with unparalleled comfort and support with the Meridian Ultra-Care 4800 Alternating Pressure / Low Air Loss Mattress System. The mattress cover is quilted, moisture-resistant, and vapor permeable to protect patient skin; it also has low friction/shear properties to eliminate the chance of skin maceration.

For patient safety, this mattress system comes with a CPR Quick Deflate that's located at the head of the mattress. Using this function stops the inflation/deflation processes to allow for uninhibited caregiver access. Each cycle has a time limit of 10 minutes and can be reset when needed to accommodate patient needs. The mattress pump supports up to 8-liters-per-minute and boasts a user-friendly design with intuitive controls. All pump operations are controlled with a front panel switch that's located at the foot of the mattress. It supports two modes of therapy: static (low air loss) or alternating (alternating pressure loss).

The pressure range is adjustable from 20-mmHg to 70-mmHg, allowing the settings to be fine-tuned to each patient's specific needs and preferences. To ensure seamless maintenance and repair, each air bladder features a "Quick Disconnect" design. The air bladders are durably constructed with nylon and polyurethane, and can easily withstand heavy, repeated use.

More Information

Treat and prevent pressure wounds, sores, and ulcers with the Meridian Ultra-Care 4800 Alternating Pressure / Low Air Loss Mattress System from Compass Health. This mattress system harnesses the healing powers of low air loss and alternating pressure, both of which work in tandem to provide patients with unmatched comfort and support.

Low air loss, sometimes referred to as "LAL", is the medical care industry's preferred method of treatment for skin ulcers (pressure wounds). Tiny laser holes pepper the surface of the mattress, each one continuously releasing air. This constant circulation of air within the mattress mimics the same feeling one would receive from floating in water. The weightless effect that this mattress provides actively alleviates pressure placed upon the body, effectively treating pressure wounds. When used as a constant treatment, LAL mattresses can even help prevent pressure wounds from forming.

Alternating pressure loss, called "APL" in some instances, is another treatment method used in the healing of pressure wounds. This style of treatment can be defined as the constant inflation/deflation of the mattress's air bladders. A single air bladder slowly deflates then re-inflates; then, the adjacent bladder does the same. This process is completed along the length of the mattress, in each air bladder. The head area of the mattress is static and does not inflate/deflate, allowing for patients to comfortably rest without frequent head motion.

The Meridian Ultra-Care 4800 Alternating Pressure / Low Air Loss Mattress System includes (1) mattress system, (1) mattress cover, and (1) mattress pump. For your peace of mind, both the pump and the mattress come with a 2-year manufacturer's warranty.

What Customers Are Saying:

"I've had a few alternating pressure mattresses over the years but I've never had one as good as this. If only I had found it sooner. I've lived with a few different types of back pain over the years, but initially I tried using other types of therapy before I came to use alternating pressure mattresses. This one is perfect with the variable pressure settings and the therapeutic modes. If I have to buy another bed, I'll just buy this one again. - Thomas B."

"This is honestly a well constructed and hospital quality bed. I would highly recommend it. Although there are cheaper mattresses out there, I wouldn't take a chance on them if you've got any kinds of back problems. This mattress seems like it was made specifically for people like me and I can't see myself getting anything else ever again. - Lewis D."

"I wish I could buy more of these beds!! They are absolutely perfect for bed sores and people stuck in bed for long periods of time. My mother and I both have had bedsores before and we've been buying different mattresses trying to find a fix, but all that changed after I heard a review of this mattress and decided to try it out. Boy did our lives change. The variable pressure is perfect for relieving those problems you didn't even know you had. - Rachel A."
