What is Dry Floatation?
Dry floatation is the synthesis of flotation without the use of water, providing low surface tension, six degrees of freedom, low friction, and constant restoring force. By maintaining blood flow, tissue viability is supported.

What is Jay Base Technology?
The ROHO Hybrid Elite SR Cushion combines the skin protection and shape matching ability of the ROHO Dry Floatation technology with the stability of Jay Base technology. Jay Bases are pre-contoured and made of soft foam that promote pelvic stability and lower extremity positioning. The additional load is transferred to the proximal thighs, supported by the firmer, contoured foam base. The foam base has contoured channels to aid in lower extremity alignment and to also lessen the transition from the pelvic loading area in order to maintain a more natural and neutral alignment in the lower extremities.
Single Valve Roho Air Insert
All cushion models have a single valve ROHO air insert. While sitting on the ROHO Hybrid Elite SR Cushion, the individual's entire pelvis is protected by the ROHO air cell insert. This includes the ischial tuberosities and sacrum of the pelvis and the greater trochanters of the femurs. The pressure cushion allows the entire pelvis to be hydrostatically loaded, or floating.
Adjusting the ROHO Hybrid Elite SR Cushion
To adjust the ROHO Hybrid Elite SR Cushion, place the cushion in the wheelchair seat so the individual will be properly supported and immersed when sitting in their normal sitting position. Use the directional patch on the right side of the cover as a guide. Then, turn the guide counterclockwise to open. Slide the pump's rubber nozzle over the air valve and inflate the cushion insert until it begins to slightly arch upward. After seeing the arching of the cells, pinch the pump's nozzle and turn the valve clockwise to close. Remove the pump.
After over-inflating the cushion, have the individual sit on the cushion, making sure the bony prominences are supported by the air cells. Check to make sure the cushion is properly sized to the individual and the wheelchair. Next, slide your hand between the cushion and the individual's bottom. Lift the user's leg slightly and feel for the lowest bony prominence, then lower their leg to a sitting position. Once this is achieved, turn the valve counterclockwise to let out air while keeping your hand under the user's lowest bony prominence. Release the air until your fingertips barely move. The cushion is most effective when there is 1/2 inch (1.25 cm) to 1 inch (2.5 cm) of air between the cushion insert and the user's lowest bony prominence. Turn the valve clockwise to close. ROHO recommends doing a hand check daily to ensure the cushion is properly inflated. If the suggested distance has changed and there is more or less air in the cushion, make adjustments.
