The proper cane tip can give the user considerable security in walking and other activities and also permit much more rapid walking. There are different types of tips, depending on the need and the size of the cane it fits onto. Rubber tips are available for regular canes, tripod canes, quad canes, and crutches. Some cane tips are designed specifically for traction on the ice or other slippery surfaces, and a rounded tip is made for the blind.

When not needed, the tip flips up and stays out of the way or can be removed completely. A 5 prong crutch/cane tip is perfect for snowy or icy ground conditions since the prongs grip the ice and reduce the chances of slipping and falling. A single point cane tip fits any cane size and is easily adjustable by loosening or tightening it. A studded ice tip provides improved grip and security when walking on icy surfaces and fits most standard canes.
