Vascular Dopplers are pieces of equipment that are designed to evaluate the body’s veins and arteries based on the change in pitch (frequency) as blood flows. Fetal Dopplers utilize sound waves to detect and monitor a baby’s heartbeat while it’s in utero. Both of these apparatuses are considered doppler ultrasounds and are able to provide comprehensive treatment that’s non-invasive and completely safe. Keep reading to learn more!
Doppler ultrasounds enable physicians and clinicians to safely evaluate and monitor patients’ bodies. There are a variety of dopplers that are designed to treat the entire body. Two of the most frequently used doppler styles are vascular dopplers and fetal dopplers.
Vascular dopplers are doppler ultrasound machines that examine the blood flow in your arteries and veins, measuring the change in pitch during circulation. These devices estimate blood flow by pinging high-frequency soundwaves off of red blood cells. Most often, vascular dopplers are used to detect and diagnose blood clots, blocked or narrowed arteries, heart valve issues, decreased blood circulation, and congenital heart disease. Vascular doppler tests utilize a handheld transducer which is lightly run over the skin of area(s) being tested. These tests are non-invasive, won’t cause patients pain or discomfort, and are normally completed in an hour or less.
Fetal Dopplers are similar to vascular dopplers in that they implement ultrasound waves to detect and diagnose medical needs. These dopplers, however, are intended to find and monitor fetal heartbeats during pregnancy. Fetal dopplers can be used during any stage of pregnancy, with some able to detect heartbeats as early as 8 weeks. This doppler machine also uses a handheld transducer that’s lightly moved over the skin, picking up sound waves from the uterus. These sound waves are then amplified, enabling expectant parents to hear (and with some fetal dopplers, see) their infant’s heartbeat.
When your medical practice needs better equipment to guarantee your patients’ health inside and out, dopplers can offer a better visual on the unvisible parts of the body. RehabMart offers doppler machines that help elevate the level of care that’s brought to patients in hospitals, in-patient facilities, nursing homes, and even users at home.
