The ExerRider was designed especially for children with special needs by a physical therapist, and requires no motors, batteries, or pedaling. The patented power drive system ensures that the ExerRider can be propelled by swinging the handlebars from side to side. This product is constructed from heavy tubular steel, with an injection-molded polyethylene body, skate wheels with sealed bearings, and a chrome-colored powder-coated finish. Ships assembled.
More Information on the ExerRider:
The ExerRider has been clinically proven to be effective for children of all ages and a wide variety of diagnoses, including spina bifida, moderate cerebral palsy (especially diplegia), muscular dystrophy, and other conditions. The ExerRider is built to be enjoyed by many children for many years.
Using this product can help provide vestibular stimulation, enhance motor planning, promote visual perception skills, upper extremity strengthening, trunk rotation, and independent play activity, while the rider sits low and safe.
The upturned handlebars have rubber grips which help encourage trunk extension and rotation. An attached foot platform positions the feet, with a lower extremity strap that can be used as needed. The seat and back are padded, and along with the adjustable belt, provide pelvic and trunk stability without undue restriction on rotation, mobility, or fun.
