The Latex-Free Superior Thumb Spica is an orthopedic splint consisting of rigid, perforated thermoplastic material, with a soft and comfortable inner lining. Elastic Velcro-style straps and the individual thumb wrap help to provide a snug fit with comfortable compression, and the ability for easy application and removal of the splint.
The splint helps to limit the movement of the user's thumb by holding the thumb in abduction and restricts the movement of the CMC and MCP joints while allowing the rest of the fingers to move freely. The brace can be trimmed with scissors or molded with the application of low heat from a water pan or heat gun to provide a customized fit.
The latex-free, 8-inch long splint is designed to assist those with painful inflammation due to rheumatoid arthritis and De Quervain's tenosynovitis, a condition that affects the tendons of the wrist, and is available for either the left or right hand, and in sizes small/medium, and medium/large.
