The Orfit Classic Splinting Material is a moldable textile that can be conformed to best suit each individual™s positioning and sizing needs. Once set, the material permanently bonds to itself and becomes stiff in order to maintain the proper configuration for its user, making the Orfit Splinting Material precisely customizable to each individual™s needs.
To activate the material, the user heats it in a water bath, where it turns transparent and becomes moldable, making it easy to see when the material is ready for molding. The sheet is also adhesive in this state, allowing the user to conform the sheet to suit their needs and ensuring the sheet holds its position. The resistance of the surface prevents left-behind fingerprints or marks. Once situated as desired, the user applies dry heat to the brace that permanently bonds the material in that position.
The non-coated splinting material comes in multiple perforations, sizes, thicknesses, and stretches, and can be easily trimmed to better suit the individual. The Orfit Classic Soft splinting material is easier to drape and stretch over the desired area, and has more give once hardened, ideal for precisely conformed orthoses. The Orfit Classic Stiff splinting material has more resistance and remains firmer once hardened, ideal for larger orthoses that require a stiffer material.
