Spectrum (tm) is a responsive splinting material that puts you in control, splint after splint. It has moderate resistance to stretch and thins evenly, so it can be used to make all types of splints with intimate fit and support. It has a moderate degree of drape and conforms closely for an optimal fit with smooth, firm handling. A moderate memory means the material springs back slightly when stretched or contoured, and splints will hold their shape when heated mildly for fitting adjustments. Moderate to firm rigidity makes Spectrum (tm) ideal for layer joint positioning.
The traditional coating has a slight tacky feel but won't adhere to bandages. It forms a strong bond when dry heated and pressed together firmly. Solvent can be used to remove the coating, and the splint can be dry heated to form a permanent bond. When dry, the surface resists fingerprinting. Any marks or fingerprints made during the forming process disappear during cooling.
Spectrum (tm) features unique memory and stretch that is ideal for circumferential splints, neurological splints, and all hand and wrist splinting, as well as for fracture bracing, lower extremity positioning splints and pediatric, non-weight bearing AFOs.
Allow three to five minutes for Spectrum (tm) to form and harden after softening in 160½ F (71½ C) water.
