These Prism Micro-Perforated Thermoplastic Sheets allow users to create customized splints that are both supportive and flexible. The bright, fun colors appeal to children and encourage compliance. Micro-perforations improve air flow to prevent suffocating the skin, and also enhance flexibility so as not to completely inhibit mobility.
These thermoplastic sheets are designed with moderate stretch resistance and moderate drape for easy circumferential splinting as well as excellent fit and conformability. 100% memory allows easy remolding for improved durability and convenient use. Minimum rigidity allows the splints to flex slightly with pressure for strong support that is more comfortable for a variety of lightweight applications.
The thermoplastic has a non-sticky coating that allows easy creation of overlapping circumferential splints quickly or can be molded over bandages without disrupting dressings or sticking to them. Forming a permanent bond is still easily possible by simply scraping the shiny coating off using scissors or solvent and dry heat until the material is soft and then press it firmly together. The surface also resists fingerprints for a clean, vibrant finish.
1/12" Prism thermoplastic is the perfect choice when a lighter weight, less rigid material is desired. It is ideal for use in pediatric, finger, thumb, and circumferential splints. Prism turns translucent when ready to apply, and leaves sealed, smooth edges when cut warm. It also has a long working time becoming firm in approximately six minutes at 160½F (71½C) to enable versatility and convenience.
